| NCPPB Statement on the Convention on Biological Diversity |

| The National Collection of Plant Pathogenic Bacteria (NCPPB) seeks to conform
with the spirit of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). As such all strains supplied by the NCPPB
are subject to the conditions of the CBD which proposes that ownership of any strain supplied, remains with the
country from which it was isolated. If strains supplied by the NCPPB are exploited commercially, suitable and
adequate sharing benefits should be discussed with the country of origin. Strains distributed by the NCPPB are
in the public domain and are provided without rsetrictions on their use, other than those enforced by the
authorities in the country to which they are sent. |
